CORDYLUS JORDANI

Jordan's girdled lizard.

Endemic, SVL 110 - 120 mm, max SVL 127 mm

This species is similar to the Karoo girdled lizard, C.polyzonus, but grows larger and is more robust in build. It has only 5-8 femoral pores.  There is a single row of scales in each tail whorl. The body is uniform olive-rown in adults, and there is no dark blotch on the side of the neck. Juveniles are buff-coloured, with a typical, dark, chequered pattern. Biology and breeding : Similar to that of Karoo gordled lizard. Habitat : Rocky hillsides. Range : Central Namibia, north of Aus.
